The Intergroup office is now
open Noon to 4 PM Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, and
Noon to 8 PM Wednesdays. It will be closed Saturdays until we
have volunteers able to commit to staffing it from 9 am to 1 pm.
We continue to need your
financial support.
Mail contributions to St. Paul Al-Anon/Alateen
Intergroup, 253 State St., Saint Paul, MN 55107.
We can accept contributions only from Al‑Anon or Alateen
members.
St. Paul Area Al‑Anon/Alateen Intergroup serves Al‑Anon and Alateen groups and members in the East Metro Area, including Ramsey and Washington counties and parts of Anoka, Dakota, Chisago and Isanti counties.
The Intergroup office and bookstore is located at 253 State Street on St. Paul’s West Side. This is a new location as of 1 November 2015. To find the office using GPS you may need to specify the address as 253 South State St.
At the bookstore, you can purchase the full
range of Conference Approved Al‑Anon and Alateen literature
(CAL), including books, pamphlets, beginners’ packets and
posters. Anniversary medallions are also available. Cash,
checks and credit or debit cards are accepted as payment.
St. Paul Al‑Anon/Alateen Intergroup is an all-volunteer organization. Our volunteers help keep the office open, lead Al‑Anon meetings in Institutions, compile and publish a directory of Al‑Anon and Alateen groups, maintain this web site and spread the message of Al‑Anon to the public and professionals.
Plans are made and projects approved at monthly meetings, 7 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month in a conference room at 253 State St.. Every Al‑Anon and Alateen group is encouraged to send an Intergroup Representative to our meetings to aid communication among groups and to help make sound decisions.
Intergroup is an non-incorporated non-profit organization whose sole purpose is to be of service Al‑Anon and Alateen groups. Its operations are governed by bylaws, most recently revised in 2015.
For more information see our Frequently Asked Questions page.
Service Opportunities
There are many ways you can be of service in St. Paul Intergroup. Go to our service opportunities page for more information.
Interested in sponsoring or starting an Alateen group? Go to the Alateen Sponsors page.
Willing to be an Office Volunteer? Our office is open only when an Al‑Anon volunteer is available to answer the telephone and sell literature, See the Office Volunteer page for information on volunteering in the office and a calendar showing days when volunteers are needed.
Willing to be a Home Phone Volunteer? When our office is closed, calls are either transferred to Minneapolis Information Services or a home phone volunteer so that questions about meeting dates, times and locations and general information can be answered by an Al‑Anon member. The Home Phone Volunteer page describes what you would do and has a calendar showing the times when no home phone volunteer is scheduled.
How you can help financially
St. Paul Al‑Anon/Alateen Intergroup, in accordance with Al‑Anon’s Tradition 7, relies on the financial support of Al‑Anon and Alateen groups and members. You can help in at least three ways.
Purchase Al‑Anon and Alateen Conference Approved Literature (CAL) from Intergroup. We get a discount when we order literature and the profit is an important part of our financial health
Encourage your group to contribute to Intergroup on a regular basis.
Contribute as an individual if you can afford to support Intergroup financially in addition to contributions from your group. Sometime those who purchase literature at the office help by saying “Keep the change.”
Send contributions to St. Paul Al‑Anon/Alateen Intergroup, 253 State Street, St. Paul, MN 55107-1612. Make out checks to St. Paul AFG Intergroup. If it is a group contribution, please include your group’s name, meeting time and WSO ID number, if known. If it is a contribution from an individual, please tell us your home group.

This is a particularly important meeting at which we start the nomination process for 2025 officers. Elections will take place at the December 10 meeting.
If you have questions or concerns about Intergroup, please email stpaulafg@pobox.com
Every group should be represented at this meeting. Is yours? All St. Paul Area Al‑Anon and Alateen groups are entitled to send a member as a voting Intergroup Representative (IR). This is a different position from Group Representative (GR). Often the IR also serves as Alternate GR and the GR also serves as Alternate IR..
It is important that your group be represented because IRs from at least 5 % o eligible groups are required for a quorum at Intergroup meetings.
There are unfilled service positions. Intergroup needs members to step up and be willing to take on leadership positions. Will you consider it?
The bookstore is currently not open
on Saturdays,
because of lack of volunteers
Our open hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday noon to 4 PM, and Wednesday noon to 8 PM. In order to maintain this and once again be open from 9 AM to 1 PM on Saturdays, we need commitments from individuals or groups that they will staff the office every week during a given time slot. See the office volunteer page to learn more.
If you have some time you could commit, please call the office (651-771-2208) or email stpaulafg@pobox.com and let us know. You will be trained on just what to do. And being in the Intergroup office gives you a chance to read all the literature you have always wanted to read but haven’t had available.
Volunteers are also needed to help sell literature at events like Gopher State Roundup and to help carry the message by speaking at open meetings and treatment facilities.
Email to stpaulafg@pobox.com will be forwarded to the Volunteer Coordinator. Also send an email if you are interested in speaking. It will be forwarded to our speaker chair.
Growth Through Service Opportunities
Your Intergroup is an all-volunteer organization. It couldn’t function without the participation of many Al‑Anon and Alateen members.
We always need office volunteers so that the office can be open during scheduled hours. And volunteers to answer the telephone at home are needed.
In addition, at the moment we lack an Alateen Chair, and a Group Liaison Chair. If you might be interested in any of these position, please call the office (651-771-2208) or email stpaulafg@pobox.com.
See our list of service positions and their responsibilities for more information.
